A Chance to Refresh

When we moved Golly Gear to the new website / platform, we had the silly idea that the transition would be fairly straightforward. For the most part, it sort of was. Except for the blog. We did our darndest to get it moved over, but it just didn’t pay - in either time or dollars.
It was hard to let 18 years of blog posts float off into the internet sunset. But, in a strange way, it was also liberating.
All over again, we got to decide if keeping up a blog about dogs was a good idea. After all these years, is there anything we still have to say? Do we still want to commit to the weekly deadlines? Are we able to help people?
Absolutely, yes
We’re starting over again with the blog because there’s always something to talk about with dogs. As long-time members of a dog training club, we know dog people always have something to talk about. Sometimes the wider population might find our discussions disgusting, but we never lack for talking points.
The vast majority of dog owners are (and should be) less obsessed with dogs than we are. But that means that when you do need to know some dog thing, you have somewhere to ask the question. Through the years there are mountains of acquired knowledge, personal experience, insights, and a network of resources that allow us to find answers. Whatever question you may have about whatever’s going on with your dog, we’ll either know the answer or know where to find it.
Renewing our mission
When we started Golly Gear a couple decades ago, it was to be the resource dog people, especially small-dog people, could rely on for the best stuff for their little dogs. If you think about it, there’s all kinds of advice and help for people with babies. While we’re not saying dogs are the equivalent of children, but they can be puzzling for inexperienced owners. We’re a voice of experience for people who need it, when they need it.
So we’re back at the keyboard, writing about our very favorite subject - dogs. Thank you for tuning in. We appreciate you being here. And we’ll be here when you need us.
